If It's Love

In our lives there comes a moment where you realize you've found "the one". There's a bond or a connection that seems magnetic; one that seems like it can never be broken-- even when you feel you want to be ripping that person's head off. There's a thrill, even a fear in knowing that you need somebody more then you have needed anything else before. There's a dream that is ignited, a dream you feel you must share, one you must pursue; not alone, but together.

There's a moment where you realize, no matter what happens you could never be away from this person for too long. You'd rather have hard times together than have an easy life alone. You can trust them and you want them to know everything. You want to share one life. To be happy is to see them smile, because in the instant they smile, you finally recognize “true beauty”. Their voice, embrace, smile, smell, name... Just their existence can make your darkest day light, and your knees go weak.

Somewhere down the line, you finally feel it is justifiable to be willing to lay down your life for another person. You are willing to compromise to share one life and you find it a pleasant surprise when you realize you are so in sync that compromising becomes a rarity, as you want so many of the same things. Even if the rest of the world left you, this person would be all you need; a comrade, a best friend, and a lover. There's a moment where they will hold you and you'll look into their eyes and know, this is where you should be, forever.

There's a feeling of freedom, warmth, and immeasurable care. There's a comfort in their presence, even when no words are spoken. A little voice whispers, "Don't let them go..." and you answer, "Never..." They make you feel super-human. They make you stronger, better, healthier. Being around them makes you smile, laugh, and even cry. You will feel emotions you never knew existed. You’ll think of things that you once deemed "bizarre".

You were once so sure you'd never feel this way. You were sure you'd never get "butterflies" in your stomach. You were sure your heart would never race for another human. You were so sure you couldn't see a future with anyone. You were positive that there would never be a person who could make you feel the most shy and awkward you've ever felt, and yet more confident than you'll ever be. You were certain the sight of a single person would never make you smile. Never, ever, did you imagine that you could miss someone after ten-- fifteen minutes apart. You were sure you were whole. Now... You know you have another half. Your picture is now complete.

You could spend hours talking, or just sitting in silence; it doesn't matter. You feel secure with this person. Nothing could change that. This is the same person whose eyes you look into at the end of a long uneventful day, or an argument even, and yet you feel no time with this person is wasted time. This person is the missing piece to the puzzle called, "Me". This person is your safe haven. You can turn to them tears streaming down your face or the biggest grin (maybe even a Samurai sword, ssh...) and you know they'll never judge you. And you'd never judge them. You and they have already chosen where you stand on that, and that is next to each other. You love them for who they are, not what they did or didn't do. Not for what they said or didn’t. Finally, you can't search for "something more" anymore, because you have the best.

But what is love really? Can you actually define "Love"? Is there a definition?

When you look in the dictionary you get:

A) strong feeling of affection B) a deep adoration for someone or something C) a score in tennis equal to 'zero'

Do any of those definitions really do honorable justice of explaining how we feel? Only you and the person you love would know the answer to that; and even then it may be different. (My definition is closer to ‘A’, my love's is closer to ‘B’.)

However, there will be a moment when you look at somebody and you will realize... You can't go a day without thinking of them. They are what makes you happy, they are what keeps you going when you want to give up, they are the one thing everything else reminds you of.

But most importantly, in one moment, you will realize that you are in love with them. It doesn't matter how/when/why... You just are.

You just feel it.

And that is all that matters.
